  Overview

  Our General English course is a text-based course using the internationally renowned New Cutting Edge as its core text at all levels from Elementary to Advanced. This is supplemented by a wide range of other materials focussing on the four macroskills of Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking, plus the use of locally focussed worksheets and task-based activities.

  
  

  The teaching method is communicative. The aim at all levels is to give students the language tools to communicate in English in real-life situations.

  Overview

  Students study part-time General English and join a 2 week surf course for 4 afternoons (2.5 hours per day) each week. Our professional surfing school provides surfboard/body-board, wet-suit, rash vest, sunscreen and transport. It's great fun and very safe!

  
  

  This course is exclusively for BBELS students and most suitable for beginner or elementary surfers. The content of the course includes: surf safety and rescue, basic water skills, refining techniques, paddling and catching your own waves, basic maneuvers - turning on forehand and backhand, wave selection skills, reading the conditions, a review day and expression session. Your first steps to becoming a real surfer!!

  Cambridge examinations provide successful students with an internationally recognised certificate of English Language proficiency. Our CAE course prepares students for the Cambridge Advanced Examinations held each year in March, June, August and December. Lessons cover a variety of topic-based language suited to ‘real life’ situations which students can use outside the classroom.   Overview

  Our 8 - 12 weeks full time IELTS Exam Preparation course prepares students to take the IELTS examination. The course focuses on the Academic module - the four components of the examination: Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking plus vocabulary building. Speaking and listening components are the same for the Academic and the General training module.

  
  

  Our IELTS courses are taught by experienced IELTS examiners or Cambridge teachers.

  
  

  Important - students are expected to be motivated to achieve preferred scores in the IELTS exam. BBELS exam courses require active participation and consistent class attendance, as well as regular homework completion.

  Overview

  The school offers ""Summer camp"" style programs for international teenagers. Byron Bay is a safe and friendly town. Our homestays are also close to the school and extremely welcoming to young international students. There are also a range of indoor and outdoor activities that create a fun learning environment.

  
  

  Minimum age is 15 years. The program is only available in July and August for a maximum of 6 weeks. The program inclues:

  
  

  * part time General English weekdays from 9.00am - 12.30pm
  * afternoon activities from 1.30pm weekdays + 1 day on weekend
  * guardian^ homestay - single room, 2 meals w'days/3 meals w'ends
  * return Brisbane or Gold Coast airport transfers
